Better Quality Membership Applications
Monday, 01 May 2006

It's the key to Rogue Connect's membership, and today we've given the membership application voting tool another major update. This time we've created the ability for applicants, and our existing members, to communicate with one another via comments.

How The Voting System Now Works

After applying for membership, applicants will appear in a list accessible only to existing members. From here, each application can be viewied, voted on, and commented on.

Voting

There are many reasons why Rogue members vote yes or no to applicants - they might get a 'Yes' for being hot, interesting, funny or intruiging. On the other hand, 'No' votes are dished out to those who have incomplete profiles; are in a mid-life crisis and looking for love with someone half their age; or are simply not rogue material.

Commenting

Our latest update gives members the ability to (anonymously) comment on applications, and each applicant can in turn reply to comments. We've designed it so that members can explain how they're voting and why, and offer suggestions on what an applicant can do to improve the quality of their application.

Across the past few hours, a few members have already taken the opportunity to comment on some applications and so far the use is as we envisaged; "cool pic, I've voted yes for ya :)", "Cool picture, is it actually you? Let me know and I'll vote!", and "Nah, you're too old!".

As with all things on Rogue Connect, we've got more planned for the voting tool, but this is our most major update to the tool since our launch, and one aimed at only increasing the qualtiy of the site for all our members!

Updates to the Voting tool
Wednesday, 26 April 2006

We've begun work on improvements to our unique voting / approval are for membership applications. Really, it's the most integral part of the Rogue Connect community - it's where we find new people who are simply rogue enough.

So far the changes are subtle, a tweak of the layout and a new visualisation tool. Now voting members can see an estimate of the applicants chances of getting membership. It's a simple graph, that shows votes in favour (in blue) vs. votes against (in red).

Of course, as with everything at Rogue Connect, these aren't the only changes coming to the voting system. We should have some more to unveil over the coming weeks.

And We Have A New Design
Saturday, 22 April 2006

After a few weeks of behind-the-scenes work, we're proud to unveil the third major revamp of Rogue Connect - now 100% blacker, and twice as sexy!!

The design was largely put together by our resident designer, Allan. He's pretty passionate about fashion and some of the new things to hit the web, such as Web 2.0, and has used those for inspiration.

There are a hell of a lot of changes to the site. Bar for the feel of the site, most of them are far more subtle. You'll find that we've extended the functionality of some features, and made others easier to use. Some of the biggest changes members will find within their My Place, with a whole new way (and a much easier way) of going about things.

We're pretty thrilled about this new design, and would love to hear back from you with your thoughts!

Thomas Pink - iPod Commuter Tie
Wednesday, 08 March 2006

Fashion and function. We love it. Thomoas Pink's 'Commuter Tie' makes carrying your iPod Nano neater and cooler. Extra loop to keep the wires tidy; and sure beats having your MP3 player strapped round your arm when you're on your way to a business meeting.

Tammy from NYP and THAT video!
Thursday, 02 March 2006

You film yourself having sex with your boyfriend. Someone gets their hands on the video and posts it to the internet. Overnight, it's the most downloaded thing. Shades of Paris Hilton? We're filing this one in the 'Not Hot' basket.
